Missoula Children's Theatre
Each summer, the LAC sponsors Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) of Missoula, Montana in its presentation of select, proprietary musical plays. Under the direction of two MCT Actor/Directors, the production is staged and performed entirely by Lenexa children whose ages range from first grade through twelfth grade. This theatrical camp starts with an audition and daily rehearsals on Monday and culminates in two performances that Friday and Saturday. Cast members, as well as children not selected for the performance have the opportunity to participate in workshops that cover subjects such as the principles of acting, mime, make up and more.
Past productions include Robin Hood, Treasure Island, The Frog Prince, and Pinocchio. Many children credit their later interest and involvement in the theater arts to their participation in the MCT productions. Some Lenexa Missoula cast members have gone on to perform at Theatre in the Park, Starlight, and Missouri Repertory Theatre performances.
